History
The Department of Mechanical Engineering under the Institute of Science at Fırat University has been offering a thesis-based master's program since 1983 and began providing doctoral education in 1986.
Degree Awarded
Upon successful completion of the program and fulfillment of its qualifications, graduates receive a Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering.

Transition to Higher Degrees
Master's graduates can transition to doctoral programs.
Graduation Requirements
To earn the degree and complete the program, students must successfully complete 60 ECTS credits of graduate-level coursework. After completing the coursework, students must conduct a thesis study on a topic determined under the supervision of an academic advisor and submit the thesis. Additionally, students whose thesis is accepted are required to successfully present their work orally before an assigned jury.
Employment Opportunities
Graduates have opportunities to work in the design, production planning, and management of mechanical systems and energy conversion systems. Students who successfully complete the program may also apply for doctoral programs in the field of Mechanical Engineering or other related disciplines that accept students from this field.
